NSPC '07...

Our Trip to Baguio
All the way from Pagadian

My dad gave us a ride to cagayan for our flight... As we arrived in the airport, we waited for about four hours para sa plane coz our flight was delayed... When we finally got in and tumakbo na yung plane, after more than an hour, nahilo kami coz it was circling over manila for a couple of minutes... The flight attendant then announced na we need to land in Clark Airbase to refuel... Naubusan yata sila ng gasolina dahil dun... My aunt, who was gonna fetch us sa airport kept calling... Ang tagal kc... After mga 20 minutes or so, lumipad na yung plane... When we finally arrived, (FINALLY!!) we got our bags and went with my aunt sa house nila... They treated us for lunch sa Gerry's... We were overwhelmed sa warm hospitality that they showed to us... We watched our video sa bday ng lola ko with my cousins, aunt & uncle, and my teacher, her husband and te donna... kakahiya talaga... We slept... Super talaga ang support nila sa'min coz my aunt was the one who woke us up 2am... Then, my uncle drove us to the bus terminal... They gave us baon na breakfast... Our trip to Baguio lasted for about 6 hours...

nasa baguio na kami!!! hhmmm... As i disembarked from the bus, I saw plenty of volkswagen BEETLES or PAGUNG, as most of us call it, along the streets... Oh! how i wish the HenRiTasz were here!!! harhar... In our quarters, Teacher's Camp, Quirino Hall, room 211, we rested for a while, and went to SM... After taking our lunch, we went to Mine's View Park and took pictures with the igorots and the horses... The Mansion was also one of our destinations in our first day in Baguio... After going there, we walked and ate pizza as we passed a stall... I bought a TM sim card for FREE!!! I just loaded p25... After buying a sim card, we went home na coz it was already getting dark... we stopped dun sa Benitez Hall to get our kits... We walked across a number of pine trees to Albert Hall where we got our packed dinner for p10... After eating, we slept na and ended our first day in Baguio!!!

Ganda ng speech ng Mayor nila... may poem pa... i love it talaga!! super catchy! harhar... hhmmm... after the program, nagpaPicture picture pa kami sa mga VIP dun... hahahaha... naiwan tuloy kami ng jeep... hahahaha... lucky for us, super chatty to si babes, ni Refundan kami ni sir juarez!!! hahahaha... nice... Day 2: February 20, 2007
Butterflies in mah stomach...

P1140982

Woke up early for my morning session... They accompanied me to the waiting room... I called my classmates and talked to them... After a while, we were called, the second batch of copyreaders, for the session... i sat with my fellow contestants, my rivals... we took turns in reading the slides... i was really nervous when maam raymundo, our lecturer, asked us to give one by one our opinions and reasons on the headlines she posted... gggrrr.... had the same idea as the others... We were grouped together with the other copyreaders from other regions... We were asked to make a headline from a given lead... I was really thrilled and challenged... I was happy to mingle with my competitors... They were really good...it was a lot of fun!!! After that, we were also asked to copyread the article na hinocus pocus ng groupmates namin... hahaha... super saya!!! In the afternoon, i almost got late coz our teacher was very mabagal talaga... hate her... buti na lang, nakahabol pa ako... I can still recall, my headline was 'Harvard names first woman president'....just wish that was the most appropriate... After our contest, I went with maam omandam to SM and nagNet kami.... that's how i got time to make the previous post... Nagkita kami ni maam sagun and we went to Burnham park... nagBoating kami and window shopping sa mga stalls... I ate kwek.kwek! hehehehe.... When we got back to teacher's camp, hayszt!!! Practice na naman broadcasting... then, rest...

Day 3: February 21,2007
Ash Wednesday

I had breakfast together with the radio broadcasting team... We will finally tread through the most bumpy part of the road we have taken.... And as we near its end, we don't know exactly where we'd end up to... will our efforts be acknowledged and finally get to our destination or will we end up lost.?? hhhmm....

After breakfast, we immediately proceeded to the BCNHS Library.... The host had a roll call.... harhar.... we were the most naughty team... as they called us, "Region 9!"... We stood and shouted, "OLA!!"... Talk about HUMILIATION... We were the only ones who made noise.... hahaha... Then, the session started... The lecturer was really good... he had a low and deep voice... the perfect man for the job... We were asked to draw lots... and we got 13... the number 13 on ash wednesday... the 13th presentor.... at about quarter to 10am, we proceeded to our assigned classrooms for the script writing... gosh! we waited for about an hour... 11am na kami nagStart!!! But go go go! a lot of work to be done... our adviser brought us lunch... we ate... then, back to work! when the time was up, we were not yet through... good thing our proctor, maam angie, was nice and considerate... she allowed us to finish... hayszt!!! soooo tyring... We immediately proceeded to the AVR.... practiced and waited for our turn to present... as the 12th presentor performed, we prayed together and considered our teamwork as an early victory....

at last! this was the moment... we entered the room and went onstage... each of us were provided microphones... we were hidden behind a large blue cloth... and it all began,... The DZYX 99.9 teen probe five-minute news update.... We were all nervous... my hands were shaking as i talked and held the mic... we had some mistakes.... some of us got our tounges twisted... and some, just lack timing... but all in all, our performance was good.... we exited the room with smiles on our faces... we were all happy to show them our bests... the spirit of teamWork... 13 is a lucky number after all... We had a pictorial by the stairs... and went to church right after.... nagpalagay kami nung black cross sa forehead then returned to the venue na agad for the awarding.... right after magTake ng group pics sa cathedral... hehehe...

we took our seats.... the awarding didn't start immediately... but we listened to comments and suggestions on the NSPC... it all sounded really interesting... hhhmmm... blah blah blah... and finally, the announcement of winners!!! super kabado talaga kami... we were all silent... best scipt... best infomercial... ala talaga kami... 'best news presentor, 3rd place, 13, reporter 1, Francel de leon'... like wow... TeamMate namin yan!!! then, 'best anchor'... super kinabahan na talaga ako... '3rd place... 13... anchor 1''Michelle Dawn ramos!'.... yeay!!! i won... 3rd place... what a great honor.... 3rd among all those great stude anchors across the philippines!!! the Best!.... nabuhayan kami ng loob.... we had a chance... and now, for the group awards... 'best in technical application, 3rd place, 13, Region 9!' That made us run for joy!!! for the general award, 'best in radio broadcasting, 3rd place, 13, Region 9!' It overwhelmed us.... We had two medals each... with the NSPC and DepEd seal... National Winners... not to mention my trophy! hahaha.... This was the best day Ever.... Now, I can show our school na they didn't send me for nothing....

Thanks to the team...

Day 4: February 22, 2007
The big event

every activity must come to its end.... yes, it's the last day of the NSPC... the day everyone's been waiting for.... it's the time when studes from different places shed tears of joy and sadness... our sole purpose... it's the right time to say our goodbyes to new friends and of course, Acknowledge those who have excelled in their respective individual categories...

I walked, and walked.... to Benitez Hall..
. for the TV Broadcasting Sessions.... the hall was filled with people... on stage were the Anak TV pipz and the lecturers which included Mrs. Mykee Cojuanco Jaworsky and MTRCB chief, Mrs. dela Guardia.... I had to lighten my mind a bit... I listened and watched the videos they showed to the audience... After a while, we thought of taking our lunch... For the last time, we ate in the Alfred Hall and met with some nice pipz from Region 11...

As we went to Quirino Hall, i saw mah new-found-friend, kuya MaxX, whom I think, was holding souvenirs in plastic containers... I went to our room, and waited for our Adviser to accompany us to the BCNHS Auditorium for the Awarding Ceremony... We waited... and waited.... until i fell asleep... our roomMate woke me up... She told us that we would be going with her since our teacher isn't around yet... I hate our adviser! i think she just went to Baguio to go shopping! She was never around in important events.... Irresponsible!! hhhmmm.... We rode a taxi and sat on our places in the auditorium....

P1150088The first part of the program was the Oath taking ceremony.... hhhmmm... I watched out for the name they would call for the coordinator of Region 9.... It was me all along... Just as what i expected.... 'Region 9 coordinator, Michelle Dawn Y. Ramos from SCC-HS pagadian city...' WRONG info!!! That's a big shame for our school, specially to our adviser.... being always not around.... till this time.... we raised our right hand and read aloud the writings on the paper given to us...

I felt pretty nervous.... I prayed... 'Lord, kahit 7th man lang... I'd be very lucky and happy na!'.... I can't help but hope for the best to happen... Think Positive!!! and so... Awarding Ceremony na talaga... Gosh! I quite expected na mauuna ang Copyreading and Headline Writing English coz yun din ang unang contest.... hhmmm... Tama nga! gggrrr.... i was chilling in anXiety... and it began na nga... 'Copyreading and Headline Writing, 7th place, Region 9....' Gosh!!!! There was a possibility that it was me since we were only 3 from our region.... ' Pagadian City Division...' As she said these words, my heart was filled with joy... YES! It was me she was talking about.... 'Zamboanga del Sur National High School, Michelle Dawn Ramos..' I stood up as the people clapped their hands... What great Glory! I can't help but ask myself, 'Is this for real??' I was confused on where I would pass through to go onstage.... seconds of shame.... million times the fame!! hahahahaha.... As i stood there, I saw all the people around... from the different delegations.... Finally, I won in the NSPC... what a great honor.... Imagine??? out of the other 50 copyreaders, i was the 7th Best in the country??!!! WOW...!!! Now, I got another trophy and a certificate... hhhmmm... Not to mention that i was the very first participant to be called onstage... hahahaha... The Best!! The Region 9 pipz were shaking hands with me... i felt like a true winner...

our adviser wasn't there again... HATE her!!!

the program went on... I listened to the results of the other categories with sparkle in my eyes.... hahaha.... no need to worry anymore.... In all, there were 5 winners from Region 9... and we were given a p1000 insentive... hahahaha.... maam valde already gave me p200 from the division and sir Reinjohn, p285 from the region for the Radio Broadcasting... Kumita talaga ako!!! hahahaah.....

Before the program ended, our adviser showed up... Thank GOD! We approached her and went to the stalls to buy me a tshirt after the program.... we rode a jeep to MinesView and bought a lot of pasalubongs.... thereafter, we proceeded to Burnham Park for some last minute shopping....

This day was really unforgetable... now, i can say that i am a certified copyreader and headline writer... No doubt about it... This was the BEST NSPC i've been to.... I got 4 awards.... I met a lot of people from other regions... new friends from all over the Philippines!! and I've learned a lot out of this event.... I can't help but thank all of the people who helped me get through... my Parents, Family.... ZSNHS... Region 9... Pagadian City.... Luv y'all!!
